Facts about funerals and COVID-19

As of 7/7/2020 at 9:00 am

Schoedinger prioritizes the health and well-being of our associates and guests. We understand this is a fluid situation and are monitoring and evaluating developments of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

We and the State of Ohio still believe that gathering and supporting one another at a time of loss is important which is why the State of Ohio has exempted funerals from the public gathering ban. In an effort to comply with the State and CDC’s recommendations of social distancing, all funeral and memorial services will be strictly private with the option of complimentary on-site video streaming; families will have the option to have a public visitation at this time with guidelines required to keep all in attendance safe. All events, public and private, will have restricted attendance based on space to accommodate social distancing requirements issued by the State of Ohio. Families that choose to hold a private funeral or memorial service at this time will have the option to hold a public memorial service at a later date; for these families, we will waive the memorial service fee.

In order to protect all guests and associates, and to comply with the Responsible Restart Ohio initiative and applicable local orders, we respectfully ask all individuals entering our facilities to wear a face covering at all times. The face covering should fully cover your nose and mouth.

We do ask that those at risk or those not feeling well stay home, but reach out to the family via the memorial webpage on heartandhope.com. If you are attending services, please follow the CDC recommendations below.

In addition to communicating best health and safety practices to our associates and guests, Schoedinger has implemented enhanced cleaning throughout our locations:

·       Associates have been reminded of and encouraged to use good hand hygiene and cough etiquette habits.

·       Heightened daily disinfection practices for high-touch surfaces

We encourage you to follow the CDC recommendation to take the usual steps to help prevent the spread of illness:

·         Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol.

·         Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

·         Cover your coughs and sneezes with your arm or inner elbow.

·         Wear a cloth mask while in public.

·         Avoid close contact with sick people.

·         Stay home when you are sick or not feeling well.
